Motel 6 Madras, OR

My first time at Motel 6. It was quiet, and the room was basic but clean, which matters most to me. The towels were in good shape, though the pillows were worn and the mattress sagged at the edge. A desk seemed to be missing two legs, but it was balanced on the credenza and its remaining legs. We thought that was a pretty ingenious way to reuse it. The only downside was guests leaving their pets’ mess behind.

The room looked clean, but there was an odd mix of stale cigarette smoke and pot smell. The beds were very firm, and the room and fixtures felt really outdated. We could hear people in the adjoining rooms easily, so I was glad we’d brought a white noise machine. Connecting rooms are available, which is a plus. The shower kept switching between cold and hot water. When we left the next morning, housekeeping had started cleaning. I noticed the broom on the cart was upside down, with dirty bristles touching clean folded sheets meant for someone’s bed. For what the room costs, I don’t think it’s good value. We paid more here than we do at a place near 6 Flags in California, where we get free breakfast.

Between four motels on our route from Lincoln City to Brookings, Coos Bay, and Madras, this was the best of the bunch. We got what we were hoping for: an affordable, clean place, a comfortable bed, a large room, and a kind person checking us in. There was some damage to the walls in spots, but it didn’t bother me. I wanted clean and affordable, and that’s what we got. Five out of five for our stay.

Even though it’s an older place, this is the cleanest Motel 6 I’ve stayed in, and it’s my favorite location by far. The rooms are clean, spacious, affordable, and family friendly, and pets are welcome. Housekeeping, maintenance, the front desk, and management are all friendly, flexible, and thorough. They pay attention to details, which makes for a comfortable, welcoming stay at Motel 6 Madras OR.
