Shooting Star Casino & Hotel

The casino was the best part of our stop. We came for some gambling, a meal, and one night at the hotel, but the food was lukewarm and not very good. The room was dirty too: the sink looked untouched by the previous guests, there was hair all over the tub, and the drain stopper wouldn’t stay up while showering. Dirt and crumbs covered the floors, which clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. I’m not even sure the sheets were washed. I won’t be back anytime soon.

I do enjoy the complimentary food each week, but my friend and I left pretty upset after our day there. The slots weren’t giving any bonuses, and the Wednesday star rewards weren’t working either. At least give customers another way to claim that reward. I used to get $100 in free play and $20 for food, and those amounts haven’t gone up in quite some time. Why are the shows always on Fridays instead of during the week? You need to loosen up the slots or we’ll go elsewhere.

The renovations are looking amazing, and the new Orion Laporte Bar has a great short-order menu. Best Ice I’ve seen anywhere. There should be more places for smokers, though, so they don’t have to freeze outside. The front entrance doesn’t feel very inviting and could be cleaner.

My girlfriend and I went to use her rewards, and they upgraded the free room to a king-sized suite. She also got $25 to gamble with and two free dinners. I can’t think of anything negative, only positives. I highly recommend going!
