Super 8 by Wyndham Mahwah

The AM guy was really nice and accommodating, and the only reason I didn’t give service one star. The hotel itself is garbage. The overnight guy wouldn’t get up if the building were on fire, and employees look at me like they want to gut me for no reason. The water pressure was nonexistent. The room looked like it was last updated in 2000, the carpets probably never got shampooed, the TV looked like one I had when I was 14, the bed felt like a stone, the curtains were falling off, and the AC filter looked worn down and like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The neighborhood? Don’t get me started. What a trash neighborhood. Don’t come to Mahwah, period.

The room stayed warm enough on a 28 degree night. The man at the front desk was very helpful, and I liked having a washer and dryer, plus coffee and muffins in the morning. I’ll return.

The mattresses were so awful that I slept on the floor for two nights in a row. Every time I entered the building, I had an allergy attack and started coughing. I guarantee there’s black mold in here. The bathrooms have drop ceilings, so moisture gets trapped above them, and the hallway constantly smells like weed. This is the worst hotel.

Great location and service. The bed, though, felt like a slab of concrete. I’ve never slept on anything that hard. Breakfast is only served from 6 to 9 AM, and the room is very no-frills, without even a coffee maker.
