Motel 6 Mammoth Lakes, CA

The rooms were cozy, clean, and had everything we needed, and the staff were all super friendly. Melissa was especially helpful when we realized we’d booked too few nights, and she helped us sort out the reservation. The location was perfect, really close to the gondola for mammoth mountain. The front desk told me room temperature depends on the outdoor temperature, even though there’s a thermostat. It stayed in the high 70s-80s inside with the thermostat set to max cool. After I spoke with the desk, they moved me to a first floor room, where the temperature was much more reasonable.

For a Motel 6, it was pretty good: clean and with nice staff. The beds were small, as expected, and average for comfort. The main problem was the noise from upstairs. I could hear every little thing and their conversations while trying to sleep, like the walls were made of cardboard. The toilet also has no lip covering it, and my towel nearly fell in. I caught it just in time, but I don’t know why it’s designed that way, and it’s annoying. It’s a decent place for no more than 2 nights. I spent the other 2 at mammoth mountain. The location to the mountain isn’t worth the price cut, though. You need the shuttle, which gets extremely crowded at the end of the day. Around the turns, I thought the bus was going to flip over. Mammoth mountain inn is worth the price.

Melissa was a huge help when my car broke down in Mammoth. She gave us lots of advice about where to get it fixed, offered a great discount on a room, and helped us out a ton. I had a great stay and will definitely come back next time I’m passing through mammoth. Awesome service, 10/10!
