I have a lot of memories here, since this was where I stayed when I first came to mammoth almost 40 years ago as a kid. Even so, someone in my group has had a bad time on every visit, for one reason or another. The beds are comfortable, though that's subjective, and they earned this place its second star. I prefer the Westin, but its toilet paper sucks too. This place sucks. The toilet paper is bad, so bring your own. The mountain politics between workforce and tourists are frustrating, and the place feels overcrowded and understaffed. A lot of things didn't work right: blinds wouldn't close, the fan sounded like a tractor pull, the bathroom heater stopped working, and the locks were faulty. The furniture is old and uncomfortable, and sitting on it makes me feel sick. I'm pretty sure some of it has been here more than 40 years.

We could walk back after the night of lights and skip the gondola and bus lines, since Canyon lodge is within walking distance. The place felt homey, with what we needed to cook, have a fire, and stay warm. It was a great spot for a family getaway.

We felt safe and comfortable during our stay. We booked three different rooms, and each was very clean and had the household supplies and utensils we needed. The instructions for using everything were clear, too. There's a grocery shop and a pizza shop within two or three miles.

The place was cozy and homey, with enough space for our large group, and everyone had a great time. It's just minutes from the lakes and about 45 minutes from Yosemite. The front office made late check-in and check-out convenient, and we'd like to make this a yearly tradition. I was skeptical because I booked without looking into the place or reading reviews, and I couldn't find any reviews online. I'm glad I gave it a chance. We stayed last week for a weekend getaway with family and friends, and I'd definitely come back.

A great, well-priced place to stay with your family. 👍👍😃
