Rest - a Modern Motel

The staff were friendly and helpful, and there are hiking trails nearby plus plenty of restaurants down the road. My fiance and I spent a weekend here in August 2020, and it was just what we needed. Our room was spacious and really cute, with a clean pool and private hot tub. The provided Yeti cooler kept a few cocktails cold for us to enjoy on the back deck. I'd recommend this motel to anyone.

The staff communicated well by phone and text, and there are worse places to stay, but I wouldn't come back. We paid 385 for two nights in a two-queen room, which was okay for one of the more affordable options around. Still, remember it's a motel, not a hotel. The rusty hinges gave a hint of how damp the room gets, even with the AC running. It was August in Vermont. The shower curtain was filthy, there were odd marks on the bed, and the room clearly hadn't been cleaned recently. They were out of body wash, so bring your own or ask for some. The showerhead was absolutely disgusting.

We slept badly because the bed was so hard. The room and bathroom were spacious, and the balcony overlooked a beautiful garden. We'd booked a room with a jacuzzi, which was lovely to sit in. The TV had lots of channels, but the shower could use more pressure. When we arrived, nobody was at reception, just a note on the door asking us to call. Calling from our own cellphones in the US is quite expensive for us as Europeans, so an on-site phone would've been more convenient.

The grounds were kept up nicely, with a fire pit, picnic tables, a pond, and a gazebo. It was nice to have a pool, though it could've been cleaner. We asked the new owners for an early check-in and they accommodated us. Our newly renovated room was tastefully done, and the balcony hot tub had been freshly cleaned and was hot when we arrived. The Yeti cooler with ice packs worked in place of a fridge. The mattresses were the big letdown. We could feel the coils and couldn't sleep, at first thinking they'd forgotten to put a mattress over the box spring. The beds badly need improvement. I tried to leave a Trip Advisor review, but it didn't recognize the new name.
