Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mankato

I couldn't stay in the room and had to leave to find somewhere else. When I checked in, the hotel smelled terrible and nobody was at the front desk. Once someone finally appeared, I was given a room that didn't look clean or maintained. The ceiling had extensive water damage and visible mold. The sheets and pillowcases were stained with brown and yellow discoloration, and there was debris and what looked like a dead bug on the bedding. The room felt unsanitary and unsafe. The property needs maintenance, proper cleaning, and attention to basic health and safety. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

At this price, I expected better, especially after visiting the same company in eagan, where everything was clean and the breakfast had lots of options. Here, the bedding and towels looked filthy, the undersheet was old and full of lint, and the toilet still had visible BM when I arrived. I had to flush it and wipe the seat myself. Breakfast was a joke: the bar was nearly empty, there were no eggs or yogurt, the coffee tasted horrible, and the pancakes you could make yourself had a strange taste. There weren't even charging ports for a phone. Same price as eagan, but this stay felt like a waste of money.

We booked three nights at the Microtel in Mankato but left after just one. The place looked nothing like the online photos, which seemed either years old or from a different property. Our room was dirty, the sheets visibly stained, and the whole facility felt poorly maintained and unhygienic. We also didn't feel safe. Guests were loud and behaving inappropriately late at night, and someone repeatedly pounded on our door in the early morning. My wife was extremely uncomfortable, so we checked out the next morning and won't return. I'd stay elsewhere until the hotel makes serious improvements to cleanliness, guest conduct, and basic security.

The first room smelled like mold, so we asked to move. The front desk man was rude and disrespectful, and while he was talking with us I could tell he was getting angrier. Other people came up and he held back his rudeness then. The hotel has gone downhill. I was quoted $160 per night when I booked, but ended up paying $230. The towels were small and extra crunchy. The heater stunk when I turned it on and set off the smoke alarm, and the coffee was much too strong. I'll never stay there again.
