Motel 6-Mansfield, OH

I handed over the key card and left after the man on duty showed up with a single rag and what looked like glass cleaner in an unmarked blue bottle. I had told him there was black mold behind the toilet in room 327. First he said he'd clean the room, then he came in to do just that, but by then I only wanted sleep and told him to enjoy the free money. It shouldn't matter that this is a budget motel. You should take pride in the building, and that wasn't evident here. I booked through expedia, and when I checked in, I put my soda down before going to use the bathroom and shower. There were hairs in the tub. I could live with that, and the toilet seat looked a little dingy, but wiping it showed it was just stained with age. Then, when I lifted the seat, there were pieces of God knows what. Looking closer behind the toilet, I saw how nasty it was, and found black mold. I drove up to the office and told the man on duty. I asked for a different clean room because I had to get up early, but he kept saying he would clean this one. I know it's a budget franchise, but no, stay far away. They only show the most prestigious room or rooms online.

The room was beat up, and the toilet rocked from side to side. We had to leave the hot water running for at least ten minutes before it got hot. We were meant to have a handicap room, but were told they were all booked. Later we found out they'd shut that building down. We asked to move, and they said every room was reserved, even though there were at least four open rooms in the same row.

I kept waking up during the night because something was crawling on me. In the morning, I found bed bugs on the bed and crawling up the wall. I spoke to several employees, who kept saying I'd get a refund within 7 to 10 days. It's been almost two weeks, and I still haven't received it. Now they won't answer my calls. My wife and I got the room while we were in mansfield ohio to pick up her dad. They didn't offer breakfast, and an employee told me they don't make coffee for customers. I have pictures of the bugs and even a video of one going up the wall. I'd strongly recommend against staying here.

This place is run down and badly needs upgrades. You expect better, even when you pay less. I told Motel 6 right away about the awful condition, but they didn't fix it or seem to care. They also refused my refund. Beware.
