Coratel Inn and Suites Maple Grove

The $100 cash deposit was a surprise after I booked the Coratel Inn MN online for a work trip with my company card. They said it would only be returned after they inspected the room, and wouldn't take a card. That wasn't clearly disclosed when I booked and is unreasonable for business travelers. The front desk woman was rude and dismissive. I explained things politely, but got no empathy; she sounded condescending, seemed to enjoy making things difficult, and hung up while I was calmly asking what could be done. Other reviews tell the same story about Ms. Disrespect. Don't let the low price fool you. The misleading practices and staff behavior show disregard for guests, with no professionalism, compassion or basic courtesy. I might change my review if management makes this right, but I have little confidence. The property seems content to keep getting negative reviews and carrying on with unethical practices.

The rooms are comfortable and really cheap, and the staff are nice and generous. Maple Grove's beautiful central park is about a 30-minute walk away. On my second stay the lighting was awful. I use a dryer for different things, like drying hand-washed clothes, so ask whether your room has one if you need it. Also check whether you’re getting a tub or shower. They don't serve coffee as advertised, and you need a $100 cash deposit at check-in. A booking company might not tell you about it.

I can usually sleep just about anywhere, but I'm never coming back. There were bugs everywhere, old blood on the shower curtain, and the place smelled of smoke and trash. I consider it bed bug infested. I went to get my money back, but they kept both the room payment and the deposit, which means the one night came to $200. Kris was great at the front desk, but the manager and owners were awful. This place should be shut down.

The bedding was dirty and stained, and the whole motel smelled of cigarette smoke, though the room was a little less bad. I met two receptionists and both were unpleasant, one worse than the other. Their attitude alone would've sent me somewhere else if I hadn't already paid. They only tell you about the $100 cash-only deposit after you've booked and paid. I’d avoid this motel.
