Conch Key Fishing Lodge and Marina

The back view from the private porch is amazing, and it was really quiet at night. The pool is nice and saltwater, with a small bar nearby. The food truck at the end of the parking lot makes great pizza, and keyless entry was handy. We both enjoyed the place. It's clearly a bit rundown, but clean, spacious, and has all the basics.

There are some good things about this motel, like the price and the view, but it has problems that make it a poor value for me. The rooms need repairs, the refrigerators need a deep clean, and there should be a way to reach a person after hours. Opening the fridge filled the room with a horrible smell, apparently because many guests store fish in them. Several fixtures were also falling apart. The automated text system went offline after hours, and I wasn't given the right door code, so I was locked out of my room for the night. Even though it was their mistake, I was still charged. The only fix they offered was letting me check out two hours later. And don't be even one minute late checking out at 11:00 AM. Staff will berate you.

The best thing about our stay was looking out over the Gulf, with mangroves and pelicans around the docks. The view from our room was beautiful. The beds were comfortable, but the room itself was lackluster and needed improvements to feel fully comfortable. It looked like they had started renovating the room and bathroom, then painted over parts that weren't finished.

The location was the only redeeming part of this awful stay. Our room was filthy. The sheets looked unchanged and had so much hair and bodily fluid on them. I called the office all evening asking to have the room cleaned again, but no one answered. We had to squeeze our whole family into the one bed out of three that didn't look absolutely disgusting. All they offered was a small refund for putting us in an unhygienic room.
