The owners made the stop feel personal, and they were really welcoming. We came through Iowa on a road trip and needed a night off the highway. The motel has that classic American feel, but the room was spotless and fresh, with a bed that was exactly what we needed after a long drive. It was quiet overnight despite being right by the highway. Cozy and good value for a budget stay.

The little bowling alley across the street, Lucky 6, was a bright spot. The food was good and the staff there were amazing. The RV park itself is small, quaint, and nice, but the 50 Amp outlet kept cutting out. When I brought it up at the office, they seemed unconcerned and didn't apologize or offer compensation. The WiFi was also a constant problem during our couple of nights there.

We only managed a few hours of sleep before leaving, and barely used the room. I had put both dogs on my reservation, but at check-in the owner found out and told the person checking me in to move us to a different room in a dungeon-like area. The rooms are old and disgusting. My dogs are trained and well behaved, and they aren't smelly, heavy-shedding dogs. This was the worst hotel or motel I've stayed in. I'd rather sleep in my car than come back. Zero stars.

My wife and I couldn't get a spare key, and when we needed to get into our room, they were going to charge us for letting us in. During our two-day stay, we also asked for fresh towels because the ones we had were already soiled from use. They said they don't do that. These owners are the worst. This is the worst hotel ever. Don't stay here.

I stayed one night in Room 15 after walking the 26 miles from Carolville. It had gotten too dark, and I couldn't get an Uber back despite trying repeatedly, so I wouldn't count on finding one in Monrego. The room was clean and nice. This is a genuine 50s/60s highway hotel, which I liked. The owner/operator lives on site, and there's a small campground behind the motel with pull-throughs, back-ins, and tent sites that looked nice. It's a very nice mix of a classic motel and a small campground, and the only motel or campground in Monrego. The person who checked me in was of Indian (as in the country) descent, and didn't know much spoken English, but she was polite and nice.
