Jean and the staff made us feel welcome and were very accommodating. This is a characterful historic home turned prestigious B&B, with a comfortable room and bed and a touch of French ambiance. Breakfast was homemade and healthy, nothing microwaved. Hope to return.

We spotted an opening last night on a whim and booked the Kiwi Room. The downstairs sitting rooms are what really won me over, and the historic old home is lovingly kept. Our hostess was very welcoming. The room itself was spacious, with a large comfortable bed, a bay window with a small river view, and a bathroom with both a tub and walk-in shower. Breakfast was a delicious strata with sweet cantaloupe and pastry. Ask about the Blue Room weekend lounge! We accidentally found a charming boutique inn, and I'd recommend staying a night, or even longer, and exploring this gorgeous part of Wisconsin.

Breakfast was excellent, with egg strata, pastry, and fruit, and the staff were friendly and helpful when needed. It's a pleasant old historic house converted into a bed and breakfast, with rooms mostly in period style and touches of French decor. There were a few inconveniences. Guests can't bring their own alcohol, and the bar only had wine and beer, no mixed drinks. Our room had no luggage rack, so the suitcases stayed open on the floor, and the bathroom offered little flat space for cosmetics or a toothbrush. Those are some of the expected quirks of an old house. It's a very nice B&B.

We arrived late and it felt a little like we'd been handed the keys to a museum after hours. Exploring that beautiful home was so much fun, and the staff and breakfast were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable too. What a great find! We'd love to come back, and will probably try the sister hotel as well.

The house sits beside a train track that seems to be rarely used, so don't let that put you off. This was only our second bed and breakfast stay. The first was magnificent, elsewhere, and my wife warned me future stays might disappoint. The Lauerman house was fine. We were allowed to check in early, the Innkeeper was pleasant and explained a few things about how the house works, and our room was large and well furnished. The bathroom had a two-person whirlpool tub and thick, luxurious towels. Breakfast came at 8 as requested: quiche with bacon, fresh fruit, and pastry the first day, then stuffed French toast with peaches and bacon plus different fresh fruit on the second. I think the price was reasonable, though none of it was explained to us. Not a devastating issue, just a missed detail.
