The Monarch Inn

The front desk lady was lovely and helpful, and I slept pretty well. Road noise didn't bother me much. The rooms do need a major update, though I saw painting underway in the hallways, so maybe renovations are happening. We used the hotel for a couple of nights earlier this week while visiting Yosemite. Mariposa is a sweet, traditional American town and well worth a visit.

We were glad we used this place as a base for Yosemite. The town is cute and has all the basics. Our room and beds were spacious, a bit old but still okay. There was good hot water, a coffee maker in the room, and tea and coffee in reception. The staff there were friendly and happy to answer questions. If you're going to Yosemite, head out early, around 6:30 a.m. or later, to beat the crowds and get a chance to take pictures in the fog. And try Happy burger diner up the road: the bacon burger and potato with sour cream are worth ordering. Go early, it's popular.

My room was spotless after the renovation, which was a nice surprise. The location is great for the price. Check-in is at 4 p.m., a little later than most places.

We stayed here for a visit to Yosemite National Park. The front desk staff were friendly, and the place was fairly clean and well maintained, with daily room service. It's a four-story hotel with a small pool on the ground floor. There's no breakfast, but coffee and a few other drinks are available. Plenty of parking behind the building and on the street, plus outdoor tables and chairs on the street side.
