Oceanside Lodge

We were meant to stay three nights and four days, but left the second morning because the place was so gross. The pool was green and not ready to use on MDW, the busiest weekend of the season. Bugs were in the windows, the pillows were yellow, and the lobby couches were dirty. When housekeeping came in while we were out, they made only one bed. The towels were all stained, with black hairs on them even though I’m blonde. Does a little bleach hurt? The staff were okay, I guess, but they leave often and you have to call them. A woman next door sat outside asking us for a ride to the store, even though we didn’t know her. They offer morning breakfast, but with rooms this filthy, I can’t imagine what it looked like. If you’re on a budget, spend the extra money and find somewhere safer. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Don’t stay here if you don’t want bugs, creepy people around, and dirty, unsanitized rooms. You people are unbelievable.

We booked a nonsmoking room, but it connected to a smoking room, and the smell came right under the door. We tried blocking it with a towel, though it barely helped. The whole motel was run down and dirty. Our first room had an unassembled AC unit on the floor beside the bed; the second had no running water. At the office, they said there’d been a pollution problem a few months earlier and told us to let the water run. We asked for bottled water to brush our teeth, but they said they don’t provide water to guests and suggested we go to a store up the street. When we tried the tap again, the water was just a trickle and brown. The TV remote literally stuck to my hand. The sheets looked okay, so we got our own water, stayed the night, then left early to find somewhere else to shower. The website misrepresents everything, and the staff were unprofessional and showed almost no customer service. Don’t believe any positive review about this place.

Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the customer service was great. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The pool was nice for a relaxing dip, and it’s an easy, short drive to ocean city beach. Gas stations and convenience stores are nearby, too.

The bathroom was filthy, and the place stank of cigarettes. I booked through Expidia and they refused to refund me because the hotel wouldn’t give me one. $328.00 for a run-down piece of crap hotel.
