Tremont Inn on Main

The roasted potatoes were a highlight, crispy outside and creamy inside, and the salmon from the early bird menu was fresh and delicious. The servings weren't huge, but the quality made up for it, and the early bird price fit our budget. There were two for one cocktails and wine, so I guess I should look at the wine menu next time. I'm seldom impressed by Marshalltown's sit down restaurants, so this was a delicious surprise.

We accidentally left a nice set of ear buds behind and didn't realize until we were already boarded on a plane. The staff promptly mailed them back, which showed a level of trustworthiness you don't always find at larger establishments. We had a great stay at the Tremont Inn. The staff were very hospitable, and the restaurant is fantastic.

Coming in through the back door gave the restaurant a hidden-away feel, which was cool. I probably wouldn't have more than one drink and try to walk down that pathway, though. We had a lot of fun, and the food was really good. I enjoyed the steak from the 4 to 6 menu. The portions were smaller than I expected, but delicious. I only ate at the restaurant, so that's the perspective behind this review.

I wished breakfast had been included in the stay. I was there for a couple days on a business trip, and the location was close enough to where I needed to go that walking would've been easy. At first I was a bit underwhelmed by the old-time hotel decor and layout, but I gradually grew into it.
