Hilton Garden Inn Martinsburg

The room was really nice and clean, and the hotel is close to all the commercial places in the Martinsburg area. There's a nice pool and gym. Only one washer and dryer, but I feel like I was the only one using them. The restaurant is a little pricey for what you get, which was my only downside. Otherwise, it was a good stay.

The room and amenities were better than some Marriotts and definitely nicer than Best Western. It was a comfortable, really nice stay, and I'd come back. The hotel has a modern feel, a convenient location, and friendly staff from the front desk to the breakfast waitress with butterfly earrings. The room was quiet and clean, with a couch, comfortable chair, desk, microwave, fridge with freezer, Keurig and coffee and tea, plus a good sized sink with room for a toiletry bag. They provided Crabtree and Evelyn soap, body lotion, and shower products. The heater and air conditioning unit was quiet and worked well. There's free coffee in the lobby in the morning, a nicely stocked snack and food shop, and a restaurant with reasonably priced breakfast at $10 and under. The hot breakfast includes eggs, bacon, sausage, omelets, and a pancake special. The carrot cake pancakes with cream cheese sauce the day we were there were good and not too sweet. There's also an indoor pool with outdoor chairs, Roadhouse restaurant next door, and other restaurants, Walmart, and a grocery store nearby. Hilton Gold members can ask the front desk receptionist to add the $10 breakfast credit per person to their account. There were two bottles of water in the room for members as well.

During a stressful week, the staff throughout the Hilton Garden Inn in Martinsburg were welcoming, and the hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. What I'll remember most is breakfast. The morning chef, Rasheenah, was warm and kind, and you could tell she took pride in the food and cared about the guests she was cooking for. Her hospitality made breakfast feel personal and comforting, which meant a lot when we needed it. It's rare to leave a short stay with that kind of impression. We'll remember Rasheenah and would gladly stay here again because of experiences like this.

This was my second stay. Two years ago, the room was clean and they HAD free breakfast. This time, the room was dirty and the morning staff manager had a nasty attitude. I checked in at 1:30 am and was told breakfast was from 6-9. I was too tired to complain about the stained spread and garbage in a bin, so I slept. The next morning I was surprised to find they were charging for breakfast. I double checked, and the guy said I hadn't included it when I booked directly with them. I told him I booked in person and asked why the woman had told me about breakfast if it wasn't included. I asked for the manager, an older lady who looked like she had washed her face with lemons. She came over with an attitude and an angry expression, kept cutting me off, and said there was nothing she could do. When I asked about the honor guarantee because of the dirty room, she said the same thing. I filed a complaint with Hilton and then realized this grumpy lady lied, saying I was yelling in the lobby. I just filed an appeal and will take it as far as I can because she has now lied. They have cameras all over the lobby. I dare them to include a clip of me yelling with their appeal response. I don't expect my money back, but what's the point of a guarantee if stone faced managers lie to prevent any kind of compensation? Picture of my dirty spread and bed included.
