Holiday Inn Express & Suites Martinsville by IHG

I checked into room 305 on 12/18/2025 after a seven-hour drive with my 2-year-old and 12-year-old, hoping for a good night's sleep. About an hour later, after going to bed, I saw and was bitten by a bug that looked like a tiny tick at first. When I shone my phone light on it, it moved quickly into the pillowcase. I have no doubt it was a bed bug. The employee on duty was very apologetic and offered another room, which I declined. He said I'd get a full refund and that management would contact me. They didn't. Five days later, on the 22nd, I called and spoke with manager Anthony. He didn't apologize or explain why he hadn't called to resolve this. So far there's been no refund and no action to address the bed bug problem. Since nobody contacted me to say they'd deal with it, I contacted the health department. I feel awful for guests who don't realize what they're sleeping with. The room lights were on when I entered, which seemed strange since every other hotel I've stayed in has been dark when you walk in at night. I left and stayed at a hotel 20 minutes away, but I was too shaken up to sleep well there either. I later saw another review from six months earlier reporting bed bugs in rooms 321 and 323, and found other bed bug complaints on review boards. It's repulsive if the hotel has known about this for so long and still hasn't dealt with it. Please don't risk your health by staying here. Update, 12/29/2025: Eleven days later, management still hadn't contacted me or resolved anything, so I called again for an update. The manager said he looked for bed bugs, didn't see any, and therefore wouldn't refund me. That also means there won't be treatment, so the bugs could keep spreading and putting guests' health at risk. I asked to contact corporate, but he gave me a Gmail address and wouldn't provide a phone number. That felt shady. I found a number myself and am still waiting to hear back.

We were on our way down to visit a relative when we stopped here. At check-in, the clerk reminded us that quiet hours are from 9am to 9pm. Martinsville also rolls up the sidewalks at 9pm, so arrive late and you may be eating from a vending machine. Just remember to keep quiet while you do.

It's been almost three weeks and he hasn't returned my calls. Don't risk your health here. It seems they have no plans to fix the problem, and they're fine keeping a family's money after we paid for barely an hour and got bed bug bites. Thankfully, I found a clean hotel 20 minutes down the road.

I booked through the IHG app on October 4, but when I arrived the attendant said there were no rooms. I showed her the confirmation on my phone, and she repeated firmly that nothing was available without offering to help. I had to find a room at the Best Western. While my husband and I were arranging somewhere to stay, she even came outside to smoke. The hotel charged me $153.22, and I've been trying to get that refunded to my credit card ever since. DO NOT STAY HERE! They will rip you off. Like another reviewer, I can't stand a thief! As of 12/25, I still hadn't received a refund, even after speaking with the “manager” (I'm starting to wonder). The apology was lame. I'm on vacation now, but expect to hear from me again when I get home.
