The room felt badly dated, and I wasn't sure the towels and sheets were fresh. There was only about half a roll of toilet paper when I arrived. I asked the housekeeper, who was restocking the room next door, for another washcloth, but she said there weren't any left. A bottle of tea cost $4.85, and I didn't learn the price until the staff member had already run my card. For a Marriott, this was a letdown. It felt more like a Red Roof Inn or an even lower-class hotel.

The common area is really nice, and the staff are wonderful. But the bed was so hard it felt like sleeping on the ground, and the shower barely felt stronger than someone pouring water over your head. If camping is your thing, this might be the hotel for you.

I liked the family-friendly feel of the lobby, with its books and games. We barely had time to swim, and the pool was closed anyway. It's an older hotel, though it's still kept up nicely. We checked in after midnight, and everything went smoothly. The front desk was kind and helpful on 10/25-10/26. The beds were clean, and I like my water HOT, which it was.

The room and the staff were fine, but I couldn't get over paying more than $17 for one gin and tonic at the bar. That's the kind of price I'd expect at a high-end resort, not a Courtyard by Marriott in Toledo, Ohio. It felt way out of line for the brand and location. I hope management and Marriott corporate take a look. Loyal guests shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed for a simple drink.

Really nice place, with clean rooms and friendly service. Slamming doors woke us up, which says more about the other guests, though softer-closing doors might help.
