The one bright spot was the kind woman who brought a replacement hair dryer to my room. The one in the room didn’t work. I was traveling for business and every other hotel was full, so I rented a room here, but it reeked of cigarette smoke and nobody had asked whether a smoking room was okay. I took my luggage back to the desk and asked for a different room, then got charged an upgrade fee. The place was outdated and hadn’t been cleaned properly, since a used washcloth was still hanging in the shower. They also encourage guests to use the poorly lit back stairway, whose door doesn’t lock, so anyone can get to both floors at any hour. I’d recommend staying anywhere else.
We were here for roughly 10 to 14 days, and most of the staff were very nice. The daytime crew was especially good, though the guy on the night shift had a bit of an attitude. Our dog passed away during the stay after a horrible experience that had nothing to do with the hotel. Susan was so helpful through it, and she clearly cares about people. Kudos to her. The sheets, towels, blankets, and shower curtain were all clean, and the room itself was very clean. The fridge got nice and cold, the microwave worked, and the TV was fine after housekeeping replaced the remote. We had no hot water for the first three or four days, which was a big downside, but they fixed it. In our last two days, we had very hot water and a very good shower. Nobody’s perfect. I’ve found that showing people respect often gets respect back, and they may fix things when something goes wrong.
The service was great and the price was cheap, but the rooms were bottom tier. There were more than ten stink bugs in the rooms, and the floors were sticky and very dirty. The towel gives you a look at how dirty they were. When we turned on the heat on the window unit, the room filled with smoke and set off the fire alarm.
Joyce, the young woman at the front desk, did everything she could to make my father and me feel welcome. She’s amazing, cares about her job, and knows how to do it well. She deserves a raise, for real. The place was very clean, and the housekeeping was great.
The air conditioner worked fine, and the staff were polite and accommodating, but the bugs mean I won’t come back. I killed at least one cockroach in the bathroom and another bug by the TV. The walls were pretty dinged up and damaged, and the floor was dirty and sticky in spots. More hotels are moving away from carpet, but then the floors need to be mopped, not just vacuumed for dust. Spraying to keep bugs out can’t cost that much, and the investment would pay off over time.
