Breakfast was unusual, and the eggs were very dry both mornings. The room we were first given hadn't been cleaned at all: the beds were unmade and there was trash on the counters. Seth at the front desk apologized and moved us, and he was a real jewel throughout. He helped with several problems, even bringing another ironing board after the first one collapsed twice. I managed to prop the replacement up, but it did the same thing. The new room still had a lot of cleaning issues. Our 13-month-old found a sock under the couch, and there was trash between it and the divider wall. The couch had stains I didn't want to guess about. The sheets were stained and had holes, the headboards felt oily, and the fridge didn't work. It also had mold in the door and old food or liquid residue, so we couldn't use it. I didn't want to bother Seth with that on top of everything else. The ironing board trouble was another thing we had to bring up. At check-in, someone I assume was from housekeeping burst in from the back room and interrupted my conversation with Seth about something that wasn't urgent. She was leaving, I guess, but it came across as very rude. Seth apologized, and he really is wonderful. We're easygoing and don't nitpick, but housekeeping and cleanliness here need to improve.

Seth and Julia were kind and tried to help, and Julia gave us a full refund, but the hotel itself was nowhere near Choice Hotel standards. We left after one night and moved to another place in town. The third floor smelled strange, the curtains were ripped, wall patches were held on with staples, and neither bed had a comforter. On our first morning, the third-floor water pressure was so poor the toilet wouldn't flush and then overflowed onto the floor. We booked for the outdoor pool and fitness center shown on the website. On arrival, the pool was empty and apparently hadn't been used in five years, and the fitness center was out of order. They said we could use facilities at the owner's other hotel across the street, but getting there meant driving around the highway. The hot tub there had green, filthy water. I strongly urge ownership to update the website and stop putting guests through this. Seth went above and beyond with his kindness, and Julia was understanding, but they can't make up for the lack of support from ownership.

Checkout at noon was handy, and the bed was comfortable. The AC was cold and breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast. But the pool was being advertised even though it clearly hadn't worked for a while. The hot tub and workout room weren't available either, and the dining chairs were dirty.

Of all the hotels we've tried in McAlester, Comfort Suites has been the best so far. The rooms were spotless, with a California king bed, and our 17-year-old son slept on the foldout couch. They allow pets and didn't even ask for a pet deposit. I highly recommend it, and we'll stay there every time our son visits.

The room was clean and nice, and the beds were comfortable. After my car was towed the night before, the morning front desk staff went out of their way to help me figure out how to get to the shop. It had been a stressful breakdown, more than 400 miles from home, followed by a last-minute hotel booking. Sherri, Amber and Jamie were FANTASTIC and made the situation manageable. One thousand high fives to those ladies!
