Mccloud Mercantile Hotel

Room 216, the Shasta winter room, was absolutely gorgeous. The jet tub sits in a raised, flowing room. We were impressed by the care and kindness around the place, and we'd definitely stay again sometime.

The front desk woman was so kind and helpful. We were traveling with our dog and had booked the only pet-friendly room, but when we got there, they told us there was a problem with it. She moved us to another room at no extra cost, even with the dog. That room was incredible, so clean and beautifully decorated. We could see Mt. Shasta, and it had a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Whoever renovated the hotel has a great eye. The rooms are all unique, and we'd love to try another one next time. There’s nugget ice and hot chocolate in the lounge, plus a coffee shop, cafe, and boutiques in the same building downstairs. They’re all worth checking out. Opening the door to our room honestly left me stunned. What a wonderful stay.

We stayed over Christmas a few years back and got one of the nicer, spacious rooms, with a claw-foot tub in it. The mattress was the cheapest, oldest one I’ve ever slept on. This wasn’t about whether it was firm or soft. It was lumpy and uneven, and some of the springs were broken. I’d be embarrassed to put a guest in my own home on a mattress that worn out. I can’t understand how a hotel thinks that’s acceptable.

The room felt warm and comforting. With the way it reflected McCloud's lumber history, it made me picture being in a treehouse and looking up at Mt. Shasta.
