For the 4th of July, this place is tough to beat if you want a reasonable budget and a kid-friendly house. It's an older, nice house with some upgrades, a good sized kitchen, and rooms that are usable without worrying about kids treating it like a work of art dedicated to lake house architecture. We had five kids, ages 15 to 4, and the house fit us all easily, plus guests for fireworks. The location is perfect for watching them, and the market and dollar store aren't too far in any direction. If you golf, Lodestone is less than a mile away. The grill needed attention, so we called Taylor Made. They sent someone right out, and a very nice, friendly, knowledgeable tech sorted it out. The owner-neighbors were as cordial and kind as could be. Any complaints I could come up with would be totally nit-picky. Our stay at "Lake Love" was just perfect all the way around.

Deep Creek Lake was a great place to spend time, but Lake Love house was a letdown. The location is good and the A/C works well. Getting down to the lake is difficult, especially for seniors or anyone with bad knees. The house is old and needs major repairs. The beds are awful, and the basement ones touch the cinder block walls with only one way in. There’s black mold in the fridge and bathrooms, and the dishwasher and microwave are too gross to describe. Most concerning, the steep stairs have no railing on the top four steps. I can’t see how that meets any state’s code. It felt like the owners were taking in money without putting it back into the house. I took photos because the condition is hard to believe. Contact me if you want to see them. If you’ve booked already, I feel for you. If you haven’t, don’t stay here.

We gave it three stars because it covered the basics, was relatively clean, and came with a private dock. Beyond that, there wasn’t much to recommend. Rain and cold weather kept us inside more than planned during our summer week. There was plenty of seating, but none of it was comfortable. The master mattress felt like a rock, and the small, crowded basement bedrooms had sagging mattresses. The master bath was okay; the basement bathroom was cramped and moldy. Cleaning could be better. We found bits of wrappers by the basement hearth and around the couches, and the grill was disgusting. The dishwasher didn’t clean properly either, leaving food particles on other dishes. The house met our basic needs, and that was about it.

The house was nice, though getting down to the lake is tough for older people.

The lake views were amazing, and the lodging was really comfortable.
