Red Gate Inn

We made ourselves at home for a fabulous NYE weekend at Red Gate Inn B&B. The hosts were wonderful, and breakfast was comforting, home-style food. We enjoyed the charming surroundings and cozy fireplace, visited historic downtown McKinney square, then came back to cook out in the backyard for a holiday feast. Can’t wait to return when it’s warmer and spend time by the pool. Do yourself a favor and book a getaway.

We booked the bed and breakfast for four days for our wedding and reception, and it made everything convenient and stress-free. Our outdoor backyard wedding happened to have beautiful weather, and I wouldn’t change a thing about our big day. The older house is beautiful, and the updates to the showers and kitchen look great. The beds were comfortable, and Paul was so accommodating and ready to help with whatever we needed. I can’t wait to celebrate anniversaries there.

Staying at Red gate Inn McKinney Texas felt like being welcomed into a family home. Paul and Sharon, the owners, were around to help with anything we needed, and the other guests were down-to-earth. Each morning they served breakfast family-style. The old inn has a lot of culture and character, and our room was beautiful, with one of the biggest showers I’ve seen. My wife fell for the bathtub on our first day. Outside there are several seating spots, a meeting area, a bar, and a beautiful pool and hot tub. It’s a quintessential downtown McKinney experience, and we’ll be back next time we visit The Old Downtown McKinney Square.

Gary and Debbie Roper were wonderful hosts, and even brought breakfast to my wife when she couldn’t get out of bed. Breakfast was excellent. The restored 103-year-old house has modern comforts, and the grounds are lovely, with big shade trees and a wraparound porch where you can relax. We stayed in the quaint Dessert Rose room, which had its own bathroom, a huge shower, and a claw-foot tub. The other rooms are upstairs, have updated bathrooms, and all rooms have air conditioning. The house is about half a mile from the square, with pleasant homes along the way. They also have space for small weddings. We’ll absolutely return.
