My first stay at a Motel 6, and I was quite satisfied. The room was clean; it didn't come with shampoo, conditioner, a hair dryer, or an iron, but I suppose those are things you might expect at a 4-star-plus hotel. What really stood out was how helpful the management was when we realized we'd left a few things behind and had to return for them. They were pleasant and handled everything we needed really well.

The room was a good size, and everything else was fine, but it echoed a lot. I hadn't realized there'd be no shampoo or conditioner, so I had to run to the store. The pillows were much too soft, and the mattress slid every time we sat down.

The room itself was spacious, very nice, and had plenty of light. They brought shampoo after I asked, but there was no body lotion. They changed the towels, though they didn't make the bed or take out the trash. It works fine for a night or two.

Check-in was easy and the customer service was great. I really liked the shower and its water pressure. Not sure how I feel about the bare floors instead of carpet, it felt strange. Laundry was inexpensive, but the dryer took nearly two and a half hours to dry a normal load of jeans and shirts.

We'd stayed at this Motel 6 last summer and everything had been fine, but this visit was especially thoughtful. We were in town for our child's college graduation, and on Saturday afternoon someone at the front desk surprised us with refreshments in our room, knowing lots of parents were there for graduation. They'd also put out special treats at breakfast. I had forgotten some clothes, and she walked me through using the washer and dryer. It turned into an unexpectedly lovely stay.
