Crane Creek Inn Bed and Breakfast

The river view and downtown location made this a great place to stay. Everything in the cute older property is updated and super clean, and it’s within walking distance of everything in downtown Melbourne. I was unsure about the shared spaces in the main house, but the rooms are locked off from them. Being able to grab water or a snack from the kitchen at night felt like being back at my parents’ place. It’s even nicer in person than in the pictures, which are fine. The chickens were cute and, unlike the ones we’re used to in Miami, I didn’t hear them at all. Trains did pass a couple of times overnight, but they warn you about that and leave earplugs.

One of my favorite places on Florida’s East Coast, and always a fun area to spend time in. I’ve stayed at Crane Creek Inn several times over the last three years, tried three of its six rooms, and enjoyed the pool and kayaks each time. It’s a historic house right on the river in Melbourne. The six rooms each have their own features, and some have full kitchens. Three are in the back near the pool. There’s also a big backyard with a hammock and more. Restaurants, shops, and bakeries in the historic downtown are just a few blocks away, an easy walk for pastries or dinner. Melbourne Beach is a quick drive across a bridge, and it’s one of my favorite destinations while I’m there.

I’ll be back, though I’m bringing my own blanket. The bedding was my one small complaint: the bedspreads could be better quality, and extra blankets would help. The Osprey had a small blanket, but the Dolphin didn’t have any. It also lacked a flat sheet on the bed, though I found one in the closet. I liked both suites, but preferred the Osprey for its spot in the house and the balcony. I stayed there for the first several nights, then spent the last night in the Dolphin. I enjoyed the stay so much that I extended my trip. The location is close to stores and restaurants, and the owners have thought of lots of things to make guests comfortable. Each room has its own appeal. The free kayaks, carefully maintained pool and yard, and the chickens were all lovely. Aside from the bedding, everything was perfect.

We loved having the fresh eggs and bagels for breakfast both mornings. The kitchen was stocked with continental breakfast items, and Mark was responsive and accommodating. It was also an easy few-minute walk to downtown restaurants and bars. My husband and I spent a couple of nights in the Osprey room. It had a mini kitchen, a full bathroom, and a private balcony overlooking the property. The room was a good size, and the house felt roomy. We didn’t often cross paths with other guests. Out back, the pool and boardwalk were lovely, and the chickens were a fun extra. Such a cute, fun place near Downtown Melbourne. We’d absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone after a quiet little getaway.
