Red Roof Inn & Suites Detroit - Melvindale/Dearborn

The room itself was nice, and I had no problems with it. We arrived from Chicago around 5:30 AM for a reservation and asked to check in, but the night clerk was very rude and uncooperative. I was okay with the $100 deposit, but they also wanted $75 for early check-in. As a Muslim, I wanted to get in early and fast, but she wouldn't even let us sit there and eat while we arranged the funds. I had to eat in the car.

Brady made both check-in and checkout easy, and the customer service was great. The rooms were more than acceptable, smelled nice, and the beds and bathrooms were very clean. I stayed over the weekend and checked out this morning. I'd definitely return and recommend it. You can't beat these prices with the service Brady provided.

The Melvindale Red Roof Inn is pet friendly and has a pool, which the Taylor location doesn't. They don't have a good place to walk your dog, though, unless you don't mind going a couple blocks down Dix to a big lot. That's my only issue with the location. I was looking for a Jacuzzi room and got a jet tub room instead, which was just as good. The price is fair and the staff are great. I'd recommend it for relaxing for a few days or even just a night.

I checked in at about 8 pm on Jan 18-20 for the Boston Celtics and Detroit game. The front desk guy was helpful and check-in seemed great, but I was disappointed once I got to the room. A family with kids next door kept bumping, stomping, and talking loudly. I went to dinner, but when I returned around 10:30 or 11, they were still making the same noise. The Latino woman at the desk was rude when I explained the problem. She said I had only one day left, basically suggesting I put up with it. She didn't smile or apologize, and didn't want to move me until my big sister came in and explained it again. Then she claimed she'd already told me she'd switch rooms, which was a bold lie. At breakfast, I asked for coffee because it was empty. She thought I was doing it wrong, came over to show me, then rolled her eyes and walked away when I thanked her. She doesn't communicate respectfully and gets irritable when customers have complaints or questions. I didn't enjoy my stay because of her.
