River Inn of Harbor Town

The River Inn of Harbor Town sits in a peaceful, well-kept neighborhood just outside downtown Memphis. It’s a charming boutique hotel, and the calm surroundings and elegant feel made for a relaxing stay. The rooms were comfortable, spotless, and decorated with a nice mix of classic and modern touches. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. Paulette’s and the rooftop terrace were both highlights, and the staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming, taking care of the details. The hotel’s quiet atmosphere includes facilities closing by 9:00 PM, which suited the peaceful setting but may not work for anyone looking for nightlife at the hotel. It’s a lovely choice for comfort and quality in a quiet spot, whether you’re traveling as a couple, on your own, or just want to get away from the noise.

The terrace bar was lovely, and the staff there were great. The young lady in Tugs on days 2 and 3 was a delight, and Jack at reception helped sort out a lot on day one. The food service could use work. If you order fruit and then eggs, everything comes at once instead of in order. We also had a plumbing issue, poor housekeeping during the stay, and admin problems. The location is superb, with sunset views over the Mississipi, and our room was well equipped. It could be a five star stay, but it needs a thorough review and better management to reach that standard.

The hotel was beautiful and the room was great, though the shower wouldn’t drain. We still loved our stay and the location was excellent. I wish the bar stayed open later. Breakfast was a joke, so we ended up eating somewhere else.

The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and extremely clean, and the restaurants were amazing. Service was excellent too. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
