Sassafras Inn

The best part of our stay was how relaxing and homey it felt. We loved sitting in the peaceful area with coffee and a book, and the coffee bar has everything a coffee lover could want. Darren and Jillian personally welcomed us and shared good places to eat and things to do. They're such kind hosts. The house is a timeless piece of history, inside and out, with tall pines, sassafras, and magnolia outside, and original beds, dressers, and rugs from that era inside. The location is great, and we were lucky to see the fall leaves changing. The drive around Rich Mountain was stunning. In the morning, we tried what were literally the best blueberry muffins we've ever had. I'm not usually a blueberry person, but these are impossible to pass up. We're ordering some today to be mailed to us! We brought our two dogs and had a wonderful weekend at the Sassafras Inn. We're already planning a spring return to see the dogwoods and redbuds bloom. By far the best place to stay in the area!

I started and ended each day on the historic veranda, having coffee and muffins in the morning and listening to nature and the occasional train in the evening. I could live there full time! It's a beautiful historic inn, thoughtfully appointed, with gracious, friendly hosts and amazing blueberry muffins. Thank you, Darren and Jillian, for your hospitality and the sweet birthday cake surprise.

What a joy to find this precious little place for a spontaneous stay! We gave Darren only a couple of hours' notice, but he was so kind and had his famous blueberry muffins ready when we arrived. The house felt welcoming, and the accommodations were cozy and vintage. The price was very fair.

Darren was a great host and made fresh muffins for breakfast. We stayed in the Magnolia Suite on the second floor, with its own private bath. An excellent place to stay in Mena, Arkansas.
