Headlands Inn Bed & Breakfast

After a wonderful dinner at Trillium, we brought wine back to our room, made a fire, and played games from the inn's living room. The house felt warm, quiet, and safe, and the breakfast was heartbreakingly charming. I even watched the end of the sunset over the ocean from my reading nook. We booked the George Switzer room on a whim the night before, after comparing locations, prices, and the look of the places available in town. We couldn't be happier with that choice, and somehow got what I think was the best room at half the price of everywhere else I saw. It's just steps from town. I was surprised on the drive up by how far away some of the pricier resorts are. Staying in town feels like stepping into another realm. If you're reading every Mendocino hotel and B&B review like I was, you can stop here. 10/10.

We really enjoyed the in-room breakfast in the wilson room, which was presented so beautifully. The host was super welcoming and friendly, and gave us tips on areas to explore. Room service was very good too. It's a great base for walking around Mendocino, with sweeping coastal views only a few minutes away on foot. I'd recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Sofle room, which was small and quaint, with a cute little fireplace that added nice ambiance. Breakfast each morning was amazing, and the view while eating was gorgeous. The staff were kind and friendly, and the location was great. The cream-colored carpet needs attention. Since this room is closest to the front entrance, the carpet was stained and needed cleaning. Replacing it with hard flooring and an area rug or runner would suit the room better.

We had a spacious suite with lovely views and a fireplace, and enjoyed eating the sumptuous breakfast while looking at the ocean from our room. The bathroom was a little small and dated. It's an ideal spot for walking around Mendocino, and the staff were very attentive.
