The housekeeper was awesome during my latest stay. The TV wasn’t working, and she got it fixed quickly. The first time I stayed, I noticed from the information sign by the door that the hotel used to be a Holiday Inn, lol. It’s a little better than I expected, and at least it has carpet, unlike the Best Western down the street. Breakfast is why I’d hold back a star. I’d give it five if they served scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon. Hard-boiled eggs were an okay substitute, but there weren’t any on my most recent visit. Not sure why some Quality Inns don’t have a full breakfast when the Mariposa one does.

I paid $105 for a Sunday night and wasn’t offered anything for the awful stay. The carpet was covered in stains, and the window lock was just a piece of plastic tubing, partly glued in place to keep it from opening. The outlets barely held a plug, the showerhead was so clogged it hardly let water through, and the bathroom fan made a loud, irritating noise like it needed replacing. The door was hard to open and shut, with hinges that looked like they were coming off. Around midnight, the A/C and heater stopped working because the batteries were dead. Save your money and go somewhere else. Don’t bother with this place.

The lobby looked nice when we arrived, but the first room had trash on the tables and the beds looked as if someone had just gotten up. The sheets were pulled back and the pillows scattered. We asked for another room, and that one smelled like urine. I was willing to stay, but the heater was broken. The front desk attendant came up and tried to fix it, but couldn’t. It was late and I was tired, so we went to another hotel. There’s a Marriott next door.

The next morning there was no hot water. I called the front desk, and the clerk said he’d told maintenance and asked me to wait ten minutes. Breakfast was a joke, so I left and told the clerk. He didn’t seem to care. The night before, we’d found two cockroaches, but were too tired to do anything about it and just went to sleep. My family and I came for one night, and it was a frustrating experience from the start. The clerk asked me to swipe my card twice for a deposit, then said it was declined. My bank showed three transactions had gone through. Even after I showed him, he asked about my credit limit, which was odd. The elevator was out, so we carried our luggage up three floors. Then the room key didn’t work. I went downstairs, and the clerk said the key card machine wasn’t working. It was 1 a.m. and I was exhausted from their technical problems. Eventually he said he’d open the door with a master key.
