Colonade Motel

I thank God I never lived here, though a close family member did for three years. They were new to Mesa from a smaller town, trying to get ahead, and rented a room hoping it would be temporary. Life got in the way of affording an apartment. Anyone giving this place more than one star is lying. I couldn't even sit in their room without being constantly attacked by bedbugs. I asked them not to bring anything to my house, and I had to spend over $3,000 getting my home sprayed for roaches and bed bugs. We complained several times about the bugs and black mold growing everywhere. There was a huge hole in the shower, the fridge didn't work except for the freezer, and neither the stove nor microwave worked. The AC didn't work either. My family member bought a unit, but management made them remove it and never fixed the room's AC. I loaned them my daughter's car, and the old man who walks around with a gun threw soda all over it. If they don't recognize your car, they'll mess with it or have it towed. When I visited, the old man stared as we drove in, then crept over and watched me and my kids. I stopped bringing my kids because I felt uneasy around him and the other security staff. They don't stop anything from happening, they just seem to be there to snoop. It's sad that they take advantage of people in a hard place. $100 a night for a room like that is crazy, but a lot of people have little choice and end up here. I don't understand how it's still open. I'll definitely be calling the health department.

I was there Tuesday, Jan 22, 2026. The room was horrible. The toilet wouldn't flush, and the kitchenette barely worked because the cabinets were broken. I was fully clothed and never got fully under the covers, and the mattress was wrapped in plastic, but one of my legs was still eaten alive. Now I'm dealing with those bites at home. They charged more than they advertised, and my room was 115.

The rooms are gross and smell bad, and the Wi-Fi is terrible. It's cheap for a reason, but still overpriced. This place is a dump. I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't trust the employees. Management asked me to leave because of the no guest policy. When I left, they knocked on my friend's door. I explained that she'd taken her medication and was sleeping before a doctor's appointment and back surgery. They said okay and watched me go, but 20 minutes later, after my bus arrived, they walked over to my friend's room. I'm sure they go into everyone's room whenever they get the chance.
