Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Dallas Mesquite

The hotel was clean and breakfast was good, but I wouldn’t call it family friendly. We’d booked specifically because of the pool for our children, but it was freezing cold and unbearable, so they couldn’t swim. We were also irritated when staff told us there was a “noise complaint” and asked us to “be considerate of other guests” while our 1 1/2 year old was barely crying, for less than five minutes as we tried to get her to sleep. It wasn’t excessive noise or a long stretch of crying. If you’re traveling alone, I’d say it’s a decent place. With kids, I’d choose somewhere more family friendly.

The new unit was perfect, and the room was immaculate, so the stay ended up being great. But our experience with Ann could have been better. We arrived after a long drive, and at check-in I asked to pay cash. I was told corporate policy meant the property doesn’t accept cash. That concerned me, but I let it go so we could get settled. As soon as we entered the room, the AC was making a very loud noise. My husband spoke to Ann, I believe, and we waited 15-20 minutes for maintenance. When he went back to the desk, the clerk said they were working in another room and admitted they’d forgotten to tell us. We waited another 10 minutes, called the front desk from the room, and got no answer. After an hour, I called again to ask for a new room so we could settle in for the evening. A housekeeper finally escorted us to another unit. Kudos to her for the great customer service. There needs to be more urgency in helping guests who have a room problem at check-in.

I was stuck in the area because of icy roads, and Charles and Kay went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The hotel was very clean, with spotless rooms and bedding. The customer service was great. It wowed me to find kind, patient people who weren’t rude or unhelpful. Thank you, Charles & Kay.

The bed and pillow were the most comfortable I’ve ever had in a hotel. The place was lovely, clean, and well maintained, with a great hot breakfast, a good fruit selection, an oatmeal bar, and great coffee. Staff were super friendly throughout, from the front desk to the breakfast server and housekeeping.
