The place is dated and feels like an old motel, but the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very clean. I grew up nearby and come home often to see family. They welcomed my 85 lb dog, unlike other hotels. I’m pretty sure it’s family run, with the owners doing the work themselves, and they do a great job. The pool is clean and great too. I’ll keep coming back.

The food at the hotel restaurant was good when I went for breakfast. This doesn’t seem like the right place to post about the restaurant, though.

I like the people who run the Inn, and they have a cute dog, but our room had mold and roaches. One even crawled on my husband. People kept waking us during the night by blasting music right outside our door. The toilet ran constantly, and the pipes made strange moaning sounds.

The shower seemed to be the only new thing. Half the lights didn’t work, the curtains had holes, and the blankets were old and thin. The chairs were so worn down you couldn’t sit in them. The beds were old and squeaky, and the microwave only worked if you plugged it in, then had to be unplugged to stop it. We also couldn’t get a refund, so we stayed. They turned away family who’d paid for the room, even though the person who paid wasn’t there. I’m not usually picky, and it was nice back in the 90s, but I wouldn’t recommend it. There are other options in Mexia.

I used to stay for months at a time in the 80s and early 90s. I’m guessing Mr. Stewart isn’t around anymore.
