Clinton Hotel South Beach

The location is incredible, two blocks from the beach with loads of good restaurants and bars nearby. We expected some nighttime noise there. I also liked the offer of two free alcoholic drinks per person each night at the hotel bar. The rooms were okay and had the basics, but the Google photos definitely don’t match what you get. We took off a star because the WiFi in the room was basically unusable. It worked in reception, but in the room it took ages to connect and we couldn’t even Google anything. Over five days, that meant using a lot of mobile data, which is expensive for a foreign visitor, especially if you want to stream on a rainy night. Another star came off for several smaller drawbacks: the gym was under construction and unavailable, the pool is tiny, and you can’t bring your own food or drinks into the outdoor or pool area. The complimentary drinks also weren’t available on two of our five days because of private events, which closed the whole outdoor area and bar.

The Clinton is clean, and the staff are fluent in Spanish and English. Its location is so convenient, and the AC works well. The showers are spacious, and the hotel gives you beach chairs and towels without an extra charge. You also get a complimentary drink each day at Limonada, the restaurant on the first floor, which is really good. We love the staff. This year Abigail, Samantha, Josie at the front desk, and all the cleaning ladies were the MVPs. The Clinton has quickly become one of our favorite easy places to stay in South Beach.

The room was spacious and comfortable, though a bit dated and short on storage. The air conditioning was noisy, and sounds from the corridor or other rooms got pretty loud at times. For the price, it was generally a good stay. The Clinton is a few streets from the beach, with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly and efficient, and both check-in and checkout were simple. The connected bar was good too. I stayed three nights recently and enjoyed my time there.

The hotel was clean and the staff were kind, which is why I’m giving it three stars. We got a free upgrade to a suite, but there was no WiFi in the room and the TV by the bed didn’t work. The gym was being renovated, and a private event was taking place in the restaurant beside the hotel. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice at the restaurant. Still, the inside felt old, the elevator was very slow, and the view was bad. For the price, the quality didn’t feel worth it.
