Collins Avenue Hostel

We paid $85 per night, which came to $150 with taxes and the deposit. The $50 deposit was refundable only if you checked out by 11am and nothing was missing. Parking wasn’t actually free as listed, though there was a lot about a block away on the same side. The beach was another block away, and Wi-Fi was free. Our private room was on the second floor, and noise was constant. Five or six guys in the room next to us kept going out for just 5-10 minutes at a time and slamming the door whenever they did. Every door in the building seemed to slam. There was so much marijuana smoke in the halls that we felt high walking through. The whole building had one bathroom, and waiting to use it felt endless. Check-in happened at the neighboring hostel, which was disorganized and seemed very dirty. Maybe the price would be a good deal if you could sleep, but we couldn’t. The room was dirty, and the bed cover looked like a dog had slept on it in the mud. If you only need a place to change and don’t mind being awake until 6am, you might manage. We’d have slept better in the car or outside. I’m pretty sure prison cells have more amenities.

It’s a basic, small room and the shared bathroom was dirty. Still, if you’re watching your budget, it works, and the beach is nearby.

The rooms are really cramped, and the cleaning staff were rude. At least it’s very close to the beach. I’d pick another hostel in Miami, though.

I can’t imagine this place is still open. If it is, it should be shut down for several reasons.
