M Boutique Hotel

The room itself was clean, but I stayed three days without any room service. The AC leaked water into the room, so we needed a bucket and towels, and nobody came to repair it. There were other maintenance problems too: the door handles were loose, one towel hanger was missing, and another was loose. Outside, the hotel looked abandoned, with overgrown weeds and moldy walls. This place needs upkeep.

The beach, nearby restaurants, grocery stores and shops for beach supplies are all close by, and there’s a public transport stop for getting to central Miami Beach and other sights. We had a great five days here. The hotel was peaceful and comfortable, with no odd smells, and our room had what we needed, including a small kitchen, cutlery for cooking and a TV with various channels. The woman at reception was very friendly. We’ll definitely come back.

After I got home, I asked for a refund and they denied having heard from me, although I have proof I contacted them. The service afterward was deplorable, on top of an already bad stay. I’d been uneasy when a text explained check-in and I realized there wouldn’t be staff on site. My Uber driver also warned me against walking alone in the neighborhood, since I wasn’t renting a car. The gate was standing wide open, so I didn’t need the entry code, and a sign at the desk said nobody was there and listed two numbers for problems. The room felt more like an upscale hostel than a hotel. It was eerily quiet, and as a woman traveling alone I felt very unsafe. I booked another hotel within an hour, told the staff I was leaving, and got a response.

The location was perfect, with plenty of restaurants and a Starbucks nearby, and the hotel was quiet at certain times. We slept comfortably, had enough towels, and felt safe with cameras outside and in the hallways. Staff were friendly all the way from the maintenance lady to management, answered questions and gave clear instructions. A few things needed attention when we arrived, but after we let them know, they took care of them the next day. Self check-in and check-out were really cool. My flight landed at 11:20 p.m. on the 8th, even though I was due to check in at 3, and they said I could arrive any time after that. For the price, I was honestly shocked in a good way. I’d recommend it if you’re on a budget and want somewhere peaceful, comfortable and safe. Thanks so much!
