Ocean Beach Suites

I had an emergency and needed to cancel a two-night stay. The moment I submitted the request, they went completely silent. I’ve been trying to reach them for over a month and still can’t even get a call back. Absolute trash of an establishment. I wish I could give it zero stars.

The location was nice, within walking distance of everything, and the lobby is cute for photos. About half the staff were also very nice and personable. But the room was tiny and far too expensive, with an outdated bathroom and a clogged bathtub they did nothing about after we reported it. There was no working elevator, so being on the top floor meant carrying our bags up, though luckily we only had a few. The central air wasn’t kept cold, and there was no AC in each room. Such a rip off.

The beds creak like they might break as soon as you lie down. The rooms are all crammed together, separated by thin drywall, and the whole place feels stuck in the past. It smelled like cigarettes, was dirty, and there was no parking included after I rented the place.

The checkout lady was very nice and there were no problems with her. In the end, at least it was a bed in Miami Beach, but I didn’t feel safe, and reading the reviews beforehand didn’t help. The place also wasn’t clean enough to be acceptable. We’d booked one queen and one single for three people, but at arrival we were told we could only get a single queens room. The man said the booking site had “screwed us over,” then offered us a suite for an extra $25. He also said the booking site wouldn’t be much help if we called. I called anyway and got another room with two beds, but they were doubles, smaller than what we’d booked. When I asked for a mattress so the third person could sleep on the floor, they wanted extra payment. They kept insisting the beds were queens and saying, “we consider these queens.” Guess that’s the same logic they use to count one single bed and one queen as a single queens bed, hehe.
