Ocean Blue Hostel

The location WILL NOT BE TOPPED. I walked out the front door each day into the middle of everything, with my toes in the sand within seconds. The place was very clean and felt safe, and being attached to a bar where we got a few free drinks was a nice perk. Sheesha on the rooftop patio is a must too. The front desk agents were all personable, caring, and really informed. Chad especially stood out, with all the party recommendations and a top-notch party host vibe. I will DEF be back!

The location is perfect, the rooms are decent, and breakfast is very complete. It could be an excellent option, but the service really lets it down. Check-in was the worst I’ve had. They say it starts at 3pm, but the afternoon guy was incredibly slow and spoke so quietly that he was impossible to understand. He made everyone write their name on a list, then called people one by one. It took two hours for him to get to me, and people were really mad. They also charge extra if you check out after 11am. The woman on the morning shift is always in a bad mood and wasn’t polite when I asked questions. She shouldn’t be working in customer service.

You get what you’d expect from an inexpensive hostel. It was pretty clean, and most of the other guests were nice, except for one person who made the room smell horrible that first night. Sleeping here takes being really tired and okay with loud music from floors above and below. The beds don’t have curtains, and you need to bring your own lock. The staff weren’t rude or disrespectful, just not very friendly or welcoming. That’s why I’m holding back the fifth star.

You’re paying for the LOCATION and a place to lie down for a night. I left and checked into POSH Hostel. The place was absolutely gross and nothing like the photos, which felt like false advertising. Broken lockers, rusting furniture, rough sheets with pen drawings on them, and pillows marked with drool and who knows what else. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty, and the hallways smelled musty, like a gym. The entrance is through an alley, and there was a red towel being used as a mat on the women’s floor. They do give a discount to voodoo, but even with it, it costs an arm and a leg. Don’t stay more than two nights!
