Radisson Resort Miami Beach

We stayed five days at the Radisson Resort Miami Beach and had a nice time. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly. When we arrived a little early, the front desk gave us a card so we could use the pool and get something to eat, then asked us to check back in two hours. Our room was ready when we returned. It was very clean, with an oceanfront balcony, a great view, mini fridge, coffee maker, and a couple of bottles of water each day. The main room drawback was sharing the balcony with two other rooms, which left no privacy. A partition would help. The restaurant food wasn’t great, and the coffee was awful, though that seems like an easy fix with a different vendor. Luckily, there are plenty of places to eat outside the hotel. The price was good for this hotel.

This is my third time booking here, and it’s sad to see how much has changed. The location and facilities are amazing, and the hotel used to be very good, but the managers are dishonest and you don’t get what you booked. After a long, tiring journey, we were told at reception that the rooms we’d reserved months earlier weren’t available. They offered something else, but it didn’t match the booking for the ocean view, balcony, or number of beds. At that point, you’re exhausted and just want a shower and a bed. The administrators are kind, and this doesn’t seem to be their fault. It happens regularly and is unpleasant for them too. If you push hard enough with a complaint, eventually a bored manager comes out and offers a free breakfast for the trouble, but can’t actually help. I’m sincerely sorry they’ve ruined it like this.

The biggest letdown was paying a resort fee for such limited beach access. We checked in at 4 p.m., and the beach chairs and umbrellas were closed by 4:30. The next day, the beach setup didn’t open until 10 a.m. It didn’t feel worth the fee. My room was small, though the view and balcony were lovely, and the check-in staff were friendly and very helpful. The valet team were outstanding, professional, and courteous. Breakfast was clean and fresh, which was a plus.

The place is beautiful and the location is great, but our stay was anything but relaxing. We booked with points and had the email to prove it, yet the hotel couldn’t find the reservation in its system and charged us the full amount. Why wasn’t this caught at check-in? We travel all the time and have never had an issue like this. Our taxi was waiting while staff told us at checkout they still couldn’t see the points. Then I got locked out of the room with a toddler and it took about 45 minutes to sort out the card. Check-in and checkout were a nightmare. The elevators are tiny for the building, and only one was working. The woman in charge of breakfast was hostile and rude, though our waiter Roger was fantastic. Briana at the front desk tried to help and was great, thank you for trying.
