The Abbey Hotel Miami Beach

The Abbey Hotel in Miami was clean and tidy, smelled great, and seemed well maintained. Our room was comfortable, but the parking situation ruined the stay. There's no hotel parking, no place to load or unload, and no clear sign warning that a car left in front could be towed. We stopped there for less than 30 minutes to unload our bags, and the car was towed almost immediately. Nobody at the front desk warned us, and the nearest garage is several blocks away. They need clear signs and should warn people at check-in not to leave a car unattended, even briefly. Getting our car back and paying the citation cost nearly $500.

We spent five nights here. The room was spacious, the bathroom beautiful, and the front desk staff helpful. The walls are thin, though we still slept through the night without excessive noise. They don't provide beach chairs or umbrellas. We found it affordable and would stay here again for beach access, but next time in Miami I'd be closer to downtown since we spent quite a bit on rides there.

Sonder gave me a five-star stay. I was traveling from Toronto to Miami, and Julian made me feel welcome with some southern hospitality. He suggested restaurants within my budget, checked that I was comfortable in my room, and pointed out the safest places to walk alone at night in the Miami heat. Thanks to Julian and the team!

The rooms were clean and modern, and the low price more than made up for the limited amenities. It didn't get in the way of our vacation. There aren't beach chairs or umbrellas, but nearby hotels rent them to guests from other properties. We paid $66 a day for two chairs and an umbrella, and still saved much more by staying here. The main drawback was how thin the walls are. The couple next door argued all night, and we could hear nearly every word, even though they weren't especially loud considering the allegations we heard.
