Ocean Drive is right outside, with Lummus Park and the beach across the street. In the daytime there’s an ocean breeze and beach views; at night the street lights up with music, neon, and nightlife. Just sitting outside to watch the classic cars cruise by and people walk along the beach path is a treat, especially when the colorful buildings glow after dark. The Carlyle is one of Ocean Drive’s most iconic buildings, with symmetrical Art Deco design and palm trees out front. It feels like a scene from a classic Miami movie, which makes sense since it has appeared in several films and TV shows. If you want the South Beach atmosphere, it’s a memorable place to stay or visit. Cyborg Tip: Come in the evening, when the neon comes on and the palm trees are lit. The whole building becomes one of Ocean Drive’s most photogenic spots. The Cyborg Project 🤖🌊✨
I stopped by to see the Birdcage movie location, and found it also has a great restaurant right in the heart of Ocean Drive.
Usiel gave us great service at The amazing Carlisle on South Beach. He was the best server, and the prices were fair.
Our room had a stunning ocean view, and the apartment-like layout would work especially well for a longer stay. It came with all the necessities, the restaurant downstairs was good, and the beach was just a two-minute walk away.
Unit 4C was clean and spacious, though the oversized TV stuck out into the kitchen and was a bit in the way. I also couldn’t find an outlet near the bed to charge my phone. The location was great, with easy access to the beach and street-side restaurants. The price was higher than I’d normally pay because of the location, but even with a few small annoyances, we had a very good stay. When we arrived, the ring doorbell wasn’t working, so another guest had to let us in with her key. The young concierge/security guard didn’t notice us waving in front of the security cameras. There were several monitors at the desk when we finally got in. I don’t know if he was playing games on the computer, but he didn’t see us. Now we’re off to Key West on our summer tour of Florida.
