The Kent Hotel

I booked a Deluxe Double Queen and got a huge, spacious room that was very clean. The boutique hotel has a charming Art Deco feel, and housekeeping did a good job each day. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always greeted me. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe here. The Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property. There’s a restaurant and bar on site, though I didn’t eat there. The location on Collins Avenue is excellent, right by Ocean Drive, with restaurants and bars close by. I’d happily stay again if I return to Miami.

After our cruise, we stayed one night before an early flight. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the clean rooms looked like the pictures. But the walls are very thin, so we heard every word and every movement from the people above and around us. We had to get up at 3:45am and barely slept because of the noise.

The Kent Hotel is in a convenient spot in the heart of South Beach, and the staff were welcoming and courteous. Noise from the hallway and next-door rooms made the stay less comfortable, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work, so I couldn’t use the TV or streaming. The property feels modest, a little like a slightly upgraded motel 8. It could work for a night or two, though I wouldn’t choose it for a longer visit.

This is our favorite base in Miami Beach. The hotel is close to Ocean Drive and the beach, and lots of places are reachable on foot. There’s also a cheap public garage nearby next to the police station, with good rates. We’re always welcomed warmly and professionally, and check-in is quick. Rooms are clean, well equipped, and big enough. It’s downtown, of course, but the rooms aren’t too loud at night.
