Waterside Hotel and Suites

The location was excellent, making it easy to get around the area and greater Miami. The one genuinely wonderful part of the place was an Argentine receptionist. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and professional, and she was the best thing about the whole stay, the only reason it was even remotely bearable. In February 2026, we stayed at Waterside Hotel in Surfside because there was no availability elsewhere, but we wanted to leave from the first day. The room had a strong musty smell that lasted the entire stay, and the sheets were dirty. We’d booked a room that was supposed to include kitchenware, but there wasn’t a single fork, spoon, or other utensil, and the staff offered no clear solution. The small window AC unit was loud and blew right at the face of whoever slept nearest the window, making it hard to sleep comfortably. Apart from the location, the stay was disappointing because of the cleanliness, the missing items promised in the booking, and the basic discomforts. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

The pool stayed closed the entire time I was there, and there was no compensation. My room was dirty enough that I had to buy cleaning supplies and do it myself. I don’t think they even sweep or mop the floors. The worker spraying and cleaning the walkway was rude and splashed dirty water on me with his broom. When I asked what had happened to the towel and water shoes I’d left outside my door, he yelled, “Go to office.” The office staff didn’t know where they were either. They eventually found them. One of the workers had put them in a bag and locked them in an outdoor container for some strange reason.

The neighborhood was quiet and private, which we really enjoyed, and the rooms were very clean, tidy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The staff weren’t very talkative, but they weren’t rude. Just be prepared to walk farther to your apartment after arriving, since some rooms are a few blocks from reception. We had two heavy bags and were already tired, so that was a bit of a struggle. There was also a $100 deposit that wasn’t mentioned on the booking form. It wasn’t a big problem, just something others should know about. We had a really nice stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Mold, blood, and bugs!!! We checked in at 12:30am on 3/7, and right away everything in the room felt wet to the touch. There seemed to be blood on the sheets, and mold was everywhere. There were dead bugs on the floor too. We told the receptionist immediately, but he said the only thing he could offer was new sheets. Later that morning we raised the issue with another receptionist, who told us to email the hotel group after leaving. We checked out early and booked another hotel elsewhere. Now Waterside Hotel is refusing a refund and insisting everything was clean, when it clearly wasn’t. I’ll be filing reports against the business since they can’t seem to treat customers fairly or keep the place clean.
