Hasan was welcoming when I arrived and had been helpful on the phone beforehand, explaining that the place had new management and the renovations were done. I’d called because of the negative reviews and wanted to give it a chance. That service was a bright spot, but the room was nowhere near an acceptable standard. Some new furniture had been added, but it sat alongside old, dirty areas and bad smells, which made the room feel worse. The bathroom seemed very unclean, with brown marks around the grout, and the tub was so uneven and lumpy underfoot that I’ve never experienced anything like it. The kitchen stove was nice, but the cabinets were falling apart inside and felt dirty, so we couldn’t use them as much as we’d hoped. There was a strong musty smell in the room. Housekeeping sent someone who was very nice and sprayed the carpet with a foamy product. It smelled better for a while, but didn’t fix the problem. The closet and bathroom doors smelled old and musty too, and the smell was back throughout the room the next morning. The vent blew stale air and looked brown and dirty inside. The chairs were too dirty to sit on. I stayed at the end of January 2026, after the renovations were said to be complete. I’ll attach pictures. I don’t recommend this hotel.

For the price I paid, it was decent, though it wasn’t quite the standard I expected from an IHG hotel. The rooms were clean and had everything needed in the kitchen. It’s an older place and renovations are underway. They didn’t have the room I’d reserved at check-in, but moved me two days later. This was my first time at this location, and I’ll stick with the hotels and locations I already know.

Management wouldn’t answer calls and didn’t want to refund the $400 charge. We were told about it a day after check-in, only because I went to get coffee. Otherwise, we might not have learned of it until the credit card statement arrived. The charge was for our service dogs, with no notice beforehand. We’ve stayed here five other times in the past four months with our three-pound dogs, proper paperwork, and ID, and were never charged. This place isn’t pet-friendly or veteran-friendly.

The full kitchen made a seven-night stay much easier, and my room was spotless and well kept. I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi and parking. The property felt safe and secure, and the amenities were great. I had a wonderful stay at Candlewood Suites in Miami Lakes.

You can see the positive changes under the new owner. Things feel more organized, refreshed, and focused on guests. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and my room was clean and comfortable. I also found the atmosphere relaxing and the location convenient. Service was better than I expected, and I’d recommend staying here.
