AC Hotel by Marriott Miami Dadeland

We came back from the concert just before midnight and couldn’t find a parking space. Work vehicles were taking up a lot of spots, some parked sideways, and there were container pods too. We had to stop at the entrance to ask where to go. Staff said the paved parking was full, so we should drive back out to the main road, cross the sidewalk, and park on the grass. Other guests returning that night did the same. Then I got upstairs with my daughter and found our room door open about two inches. Nobody was inside. I assume it didn’t latch after maintenance came in, but our belongings had been accessible from around 5:30 to 11:45 PM. That’s unacceptable. The noise at night really is loud, as other reviews say, though I’m not even mad about that. The rooms initially looked nice and were a good size, and check-in was smooth. But when I went to make coffee before leaving for the show, the maker was already full of water with a dead moth or fly floating in it. Inside it was slimy, like mold sludge. I told the front desk on the way out; the employee called maintenance and said it would be changed. The next morning it was still dirty and gross, so I skipped the coffee again. When I raised it once more, the desk could only offer coffee from the station by the bar. At checkout I was given the manager’s card and told I could email him photos. If they didn’t clean the coffee maker after I’d already brought it up, I have to wonder what other cleaning corners are being cut.

The rooms were clean and cozy, and the hotel has breakfast, lunch, dinner, a bar, and a small poolside area with seating. The whole staff were great. My wife and I came for her birthday and Caribbean Carnival week in Miami. Big thanks to Andree, who helped when I arrived and when I contacted the hotel on our way down. After our four-hour drive, he got us an early check-in and made sure we’d be set when we arrived.

I didn’t feel safe as a woman staying here, and I expect better from Marriott. The room had visible mold and bugs, while the air conditioning barely worked. It stayed hot, humid, and uncomfortable the whole time. They provide earplugs, and you’ll need them for the highway noise and paper-thin walls. I wouldn’t stay here again.

A nice surprise. The hotel feels cozy and trendy, with a bit of a European vibe. The room, lobby, and pool area are all nicely put together and pleasant to spend time in. Good location, nice sheets, and the Chromecast and lobby board games are thoughtful touches.
