enVision Hotel Miami International Airport

We booked a room until 6pm to spend the day by the pool before our evening flight. We’d docked from a cruise at 8:30am and wanted a bit more sun before leaving. The pool area was nice, though the huge trees meant there wasn’t much sun. I think some of the photos should be updated. The room felt old and worn and had a strange smell, but the linens were clean and fresh smelling. There were hairs or something similar on the bathroom floor, so it didn’t seem very clean. Overall, it was okay, nothing bad, and the rating feels about right.

The room was clean aside from the water issue, and the bed was comfortable. I expected the airport noise. The restaurant attached to the hotel had decent food and friendly staff, though on Sunday morning there wasn’t anywhere within walking distance to get coffee or breakfast. My flight was canceled after an exhausting day, and all I wanted was a clean bed and a hot shower. There was no hot water, and nobody mentioned that at check-in. I called the front desk right away. The young man apologized and said repairs wouldn’t be done until the next day. He offered to comp the room, but I said a 50% discount would be okay. I’ll see if they honor it at checkout.

We used the hotel for a day while waiting for our flights. The rooms were large but needed work, and the pool had a scum line across the surface. We ate at the bar next door, where the service and value were good. Reception arranged a taxi for us. It arrived quickly in a very nice, modern car, and I paid $50 by card for the 10 minute ride. Fifteen minutes later, I got alerts that someone was trying to charge £270 to my account. My bank stopped it. After I got back to the UK, the bank told me the £270 transaction had been attempted in Miami ten minutes after the taxi fare. It seems the driver may have used my card details. I’d suggest ordering through Uber on your phone to avoid having your account hacked. It’s very sad that the hotel recommended this driver, especially since the receptionist seemed to know him personally from their phone conversation.

We paid for a day pass starting at 9:00AM, but although we were first there, we couldn’t check in until 10:00AM because there were no rooms ready. They offered no compensation for the hour we’d paid for and lost. As we waited, the lobby filled with other day pass guests who also couldn’t get rooms. The hotel looks very outdated and doesn’t match the pictures.
