Four Points by Sheraton Coral Gables

The location suited my needs, which is why I really wanted this place to work out. I spent three nights there in December, but the stay was disappointing. I had to switch rooms three times because of noise, found hair in the bathroom that clearly wasn’t mine, and saw breakfast items run out. It’s also the only Bonvoy property I can remember staying at without a smart TV. Laundry was the biggest frustration. There’s no dry cleaning or valet laundry, which I’d expect from a hotel above the most basic category. Yet the room has laundry bags and request forms, so you’d naturally think the service is offered. You only learn otherwise when you try to use it, and could be left without clean clothes. Jariza at the front desk saved the day by finding an outside provider and sorting out the logistics herself. Still, cleaning three shirts cost me $68, and nobody answered my request for an itemized receipt. The billing was a hassle too. They charged my guarantee card before I arrived, and it took several conversations and messages to get the stay charged to the card I gave them at check-in.

Breakfast hours were a bit of an issue, so get up early. Talisha was really sweet and understanding, especially when I needed help with the Uber app. I’d recommend the place and will be back next month.

The rooms were tidy, and housekeeping deserves a big shoutout. They brought towels, washcloths and extra pillows promptly when I called. One housekeeper even offered me water as I was heading back to my room, then happily found me a trash bag. The rest of the staff I dealt with didn’t feel very warm. We’d booked a two-bed room in January for an April trip, but the hotel emailed on arrival day saying they couldn’t provide one. I explained that someone in our group was recovering from surgery and needed the two beds. Apparently one was available after all, and we got the room type we’d reserved. Two days later, we asked about switching to a king with a rollaway, and that was a definite no. The rooms are clean, though you can hear people on your floor shutting their doors. The restaurant and bar weren’t busy when we were there in April. I had the Beyond Burger and a fresh salad. I’ve had better burgers, and there were only two dressing choices, Caesar or lemon vinaigrette. Breakfast was fresh but basic and buffet-style. It wasn’t included unless you selected it in your booking, I guess. At check-in they told us it was included; later, another front desk employee said it wasn’t, but it turned out to be included after all. I’m not sure I’d stay again. It could be fine if you’re flexible about the room, don’t expect much staff interaction, and sleep heavily.

Andrea, who works the morning restaurant service, was so courteous and friendly and made breakfast feel welcoming. The spread was phenomenal, and the coffee was great too. The hotel’s in a great spot, with good-sized rooms, comfortable beds and clean, nice bathrooms.
