Sonesta Miami Airport

The lobby looks nice, but the hallways show the hotel's age, and the room needed a deep clean. Some doors had been painted and their pulls changed, but nobody cut in the new paint afterward. Maybe they're redoing parts of the hotel, so that could soon stop being an issue. For now it made things feel a bit unfinished. The bed was comfortable, and the room worked for a quick overnight. I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay.

The pool was closed, which was a huge letdown since it was the main feature that made me choose this hotel. I only found out during the 30 minute check in. From my pool view room I could see the pool was perfectly fine, with all the lounge chairs stacked at the edge of the roof, so it seemed usable. Check in took so long because the front desk had to handwrite twelve vouchers for the breakfast package I upgraded to and paid for. Then I was charged for breakfast every day at the end of the stay. Housekeeping was supposed to come every three days, but by day four we had to request it. We scheduled it for 9 the next morning, then had to go back to the front desk at 11 and ask again. Everything we requested needed repeated follow ups: towels, toilet paper, and pillows. The cups and glasses in the room were never replaced, so we had dirty ones sitting there for all five days. Extremely disappointing. I had a terrible time and will never stay with Sonesta again.

After what was easily our worst flight ever, the friendly team took wonderful care of us. The service from the whole hotel staff was amazing, from the rooms to the upgraded dining experience. We got time to rest and regain some energy for the rest of our journey. I've stayed at plenty of hotels near Miami airport, but this team has made return customers of us. I'd recommend it to any traveler in Miami.

The rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean, and near the airport. The resort fee was included in the rate, though it felt like a made up tax for nothing. The self service kiosk didn't show prices until you scanned an item. A small bottle of water was over $4 and a sandwich was $16. What a disgrace. The air conditioning also made a horrific noise. Getting the shuttle was a mess because Miami Airport is chaotic, the signs for its level were confusing, and there was so much traffic that the bus didn't stop where we could find it. I ended up giving up and taking an Uber in pouring rain. That's not the hotel's fault.
