The hotel and room were beautiful, but there’s a dance club next door that stays open until 5am. If you’re not planning to party late, this may not be the right fit. Check Mofongo’s hours to get a sense of when you might be able to sleep. I’d suggest calling or asking them to text before booking. We never got answers to our questions or any return calls, so try them first and see whether their response works for you.

Check-in went smoothly, but the room was tiny and had NO DESK, even though the reservation photo showed one. When I raised it through chat, the reply came quickly, but the agent tried to sell me an upgrade to a suite. The lobby music is loud. It’s nice in its own way, but there’s nowhere there to take a call or have a meeting.

The location is great, but the place felt poorly designed, aiming for a futuristic, upscale look and falling short. You’re paying hotel rates without the usual amenities, and it might as well be a hostel. We spent our wedding night here, and when we had trouble getting in, reaching anyone was impossible. There’s no concierge, just a number that goes to a voice bot and then a dial tone, with nobody answering. There were plenty of problems inside too. The TV had a big crack line through it, the toilet was clogged and we couldn’t find a plunger, and the walls were so thin we could hear everyone. There was a coffee maker in the shared area, but it had run out of water and there was no sink nearby to refill it. The only sink was in our room’s bathroom, and we didn’t feel like carrying it all the way there, lol.

It’s a small place right in the middle of Calle Ocho, with a BnB kind of feel instead of a typical hotel. I loved being able to walk to everything in the area. There’s a Starbucks around the corner, though I’d try the colada coffee from El Pub or another local shop. There isn’t really a front desk, so you’re mostly on your own. You can call customer service, but they may or may not get back to you. We’re a minimalist couple and didn’t need a front desk for this stay.
