I was in town for work with my family, figuring the kids could use the pool while I was busy. Instead, we found out the hotel runs private swimming lessons all day, and guests can’t use the pool during lessons except for a one hour window. The bistro Cafe seemed to open whenever the staff felt like it. We waited around 15 minutes during the posted hours, with the lights dimmed, before asking the only staff member we saw at the front desk if it was closed. He went out back and seemed to wake the cook. We ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup, which sounded straightforward, but the soup was a can of tomato sauce mixed with diced tomatoes, seasoned like it belonged in spaghetti or lasagna. The grilled cheese was burnt outside with unmelted cheese inside, like someone toasted bread and put cold cheese in it. It was awful for $14. I could have made a better meal for my whole family in the room microwave for that price. The maintenance rooms and sometimes the elevator smelled like someone had run over a skunk. Maybe that had something to do with why the meal tasted like it was made by someone so high that everything tastes good. We were polite and respectful and even left a tip. The location worked for my job, but with two other hotels next door, I’d strongly consider those instead. We won’t make the mistake of staying here again. It was my worst Marriott experience.

The suite was comfortable and spacious enough for our party to get ready in, and our guests enjoyed their stay as well. We booked a room block here for our wedding, and really appreciated having a cozy lobby space to spend time together over the weekend. Kathryn, Jasmine, and the whole hotel staff were welcoming and wonderful to work with. They responded promptly while we were getting ready for the wedding.

The pool was the main reason for our trip, especially for the kids, and finding out after we arrived that it was off limits felt like a bait-and-switch, to put it mildly. The hotel should disclose when an amenity is out of order or has restricted hours, especially when selling a leisure stay, but this place didn’t. I spent an hour talking with the manager and another hour on the phone with a second manager. Nothing was done and we weren’t compensated. The whole trip was incredibly frustrating.

The mini fridge was filthy, the window sills were dusty, there were stains under the seat cushions, and hair was stuck to the duct tape holding wallpaper by the sink. There were no slippers, moisturizer, water, or robes, and I never saw the bistro open or heard anything about available services. At checkout there was someone’s shirt on the elevator floor, and the checkout agent wore Crocs. The whole place just had a bad vibe. I called on 11/15 and the woman who answered was terribly inappropriate while explaining the inside cleaning turnover. She eventually hung up, leaving us wondering if this was somewhere we should stay. She insisted the hotel was sold out and there was no manager on duty to answer my questions. I’m a nursing mom with an 8 months old and a 6 year old whose birthday we came to celebrate after Legoland. She loves a pool. I asked several times about early check-in or whether we could use the pool until our room was ready, but neither could be approved because there was no manager present. I was told to call back, which a guest shouldn’t have to do. We arrived to check in without being told the room was ready, even though it had been ready at 12.30pm. I’d requested a crib when booking and again at check-in, but it didn’t arrive until an hour to 1.5 hours later, after the baby was already asleep. At check-in, the gentleman called about it and ended with “enjoy your lunch,” which made me think the person in charge’s lunch came before a missed request.

The lobby was spacious, but there wasn’t much choice for food or drinks. Marriott Rewards wifi failed on all our devices for the whole stay, and the TV in our room was broken. We expected this to be on par with other Courtyard Marriott hotels, but unfortunately it wasn’t.
